Shelby County Extension Expanded their educational capacity
by providing programs that improve food security and safety. By teaching gardening skills and providing necessary materials for citizens to have access to growing and maintaining gardens, and holding food safety classes, ACES created opportunities for citizens in Shelby County to learn about prep, canning, safety and marketing.
More than 100 adults were served through this project. Many volunteer and or donate their food and services to help fight hunger in their communities. The participants were able to learn valuable financial literacy information that will serve to benefit their own lives as well as those they serve.
