
The Cedar Grove Fire Department purchased a Rapid Intervention Crew Kit or “RIT Kit” and a new Thermal Imaging Camera also known as a TIC.
A RIT Kit is composed of a bag containing an air cylinder with hookups to be able to provide an injured firefighter with emergency breathing air in the event that they
become incapacitated while performing firefighting operations at a structure fire. Not having emergency breathing air in the event that a firefighter goes down almost means certain death. It also consist of various small hand tools to assist with removing a downed firefighter. This will be used by the RIT Team, which is composed of firefighters that are on standby at the structure fire are activated in the event that a firefighter goes down.
The RIT Team and RIT Kit are requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association.
