This program is a home-based, parent involvement program that brings early learning educational materials into the homes of those most at risk due to poverty, lack of parent education and social isolation. “HIPPY” is designed to assist the families in the Shelby County School System with kindergarten readiness. It is one of several models used by the First Teacher Home Visiting Program, Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. CAWACO enriches the program by providing additional funds used to purchase the curriculum and other learning activities such as manipulative shapes, blocks and books.
