The River Restoration Project (RRP), began in December of 2019 as an understanding with Blount County that Friends of the Locust Fork River (FLFR) would restore native plants on the site of the recently created Grand Staircase at King’s Bend Scenic Overlook Park at the Locust Fork River on Highway 79. FLFR has done 17 landscaping activities at this location and will continue to do so on a monthly basis. Plans also include restoring native plants at future access sites along the river.
FLFR needed a Hoop House to grow native plants from seed, in an efficient and cost effective manner, and keeping them in an ideal location until they were ready to transplant to a river bank. A portable structure accommodates an economical and easily accessible growing installation that offers convenience for care and tending of seedlings.
