The Walker County School District is working to provide bikes to all five high schools in the county. They used a Cawaco RC&D grant to purchase bicycles for Carbon Hill High School – the second round of bikes supported by Cawaco.
Walker County has invested in growing its outdoor recreation economy, and that doesn’t just mean attracting tourists – it also means equipping residents with the knowledge of and love for the outdoors. The Walker County School District’s initiative to provide students with bicycles is a prime example of Cawaco RC&D’s vision of balancing economic, human, and natural resource needs.
