Through Jones Valley Teaching Farm’s High School Internship, Birmingham City Schools juniors and seniors gain deep agricultural skills, workforce preparedness and personalized counseling while earning course credit and a living hourly wage. The program’s on-the-job training and support services aim to create pathways to full-time employment and/or post-secondary education.
The High School Internship provides up to 7 high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in a paid internship for course credit. Interns manage a two-acre urban farm adjacent to Woodlawn High School (WHS) and operate the WHS Farm Stand by harvesting, marketing, and distributing the food they grow directly to the residents of Woodlawn and surrounding communities.
